Colombia was great, really. It was the first country in our trip to South America, and somehow was our teacher for the culture, food, people of this amazing continent. But we felt something was missing. We weren’t amazed by this country, nothing left us speechless, we weren’t as excited as we used to be in Asia. We started to wonder if we couldn’t be impressed anymore by a different culture, because we had already experienced the most different ones. But then we arrived in Otavalo, Ecuador, and all these thoughts were instantly wiped out.

Medellin in the early 90’ was one of the most dangerous cities in the world. And you can still tell today. Not because it is particularly unsafe or because we felt threatened in any way, but because of the wounds that terrible period left in Colombians hearts.

Hiking boots, backpacks full of food and water, a swim suit and changes for the night...ready for Tayrona National Park!
It is the main attraction of the area (together with Ciudad Perdida) and there is a good reason for that. After few minutes inside the park we are already in love. A jungle forest and stunning beaches with clear water. The weather is humid and very hot but we don’t give up, what we see is so amazing that the heat is just a secondary feeling.
